The mineral content of five Chinese coals was determined by a method combining densitometry and particlesize analysis. Table 1 shows the physical properties of pulverized coal. The particle size distribution of pulverized coal was measured by a laser diffraction particle size analyzer (Malvern Mastersizer 2000) and shown in Fig. 1. The pulverized coal has a mean particle size (d p) ranging from 18 μm to 224 μm.
